Project: Cloud Tables
A unique design in collaboration with Hassell Studio, featuring a Drum Table variation with a custom shape top, unique timber stain, integrated power/data and planters.
Finish: Solid American Oak and veneer - custom stain.
To work in the clouds is a dream come true…….
Hassel Studio in designing the new HUB space in Martin Place, Sydney, created a fun and playful element in the expansive shared workplace with the design of several Cloud Table configurations across two floors for hot desking.
The fanciful shape is reminiscent of a line drawing of a cloud – so the working title was formed. A Chinese inspired colour used throughout the space was the specified finish (a feat for the AD&Co. colouring team, the end result matched the window and door surrounds perfectly).
To overcome the wide and uniquely shaped surfaces, the AD&Co. engineering team created hidden steel support rails to allow the clouds to ‘float’ on a seemingly small drum base enabling an extraordinary amount of leg room and greater flexibility in the seating arrangement.
Concealed power and data has been reticulated seamlessly throughout the design and hard-wired into the floor space.
Large 400mm planter pots were allowed for to bring an element of nature to the tables surface and later, mulch plates are to be installed to ‘finish’ the look.
The result is a striking and playful cluster of tables used to create a more dynamic working environment and bring a sense of flair to the floor. The interiors team at Hassell having used AD&Co for numerous custom commissions in the past, were entirely confident in the ability of AD&Co. to make these unique designs a reality and within the tight lead time allowed for.
Another successful AD&Co. project delivered on time and on budget, the AD&Co. team welcomes your next custom challenge!
